The essay offers an excerpt from the critical edition of a group of Dante-themed lessons by Carducci. Starting from the poet’s autographs, whose transcription is provided along with critical apparatus, it briefly retraces the relationship between the two authors and the role Dante played in Carducci’s life and in his production, culminating in a commentary that investigates both the poet’s library and his method.
