Abstract

The essay examines the critical edition of the manuscript of Carducci’s 1894 speech delivered in San Marino, highlighting the differences with respect to the printed versions and the philological value of the editorial work. The analysis situates the text within the political and cultural context of the late nineteenth century, showing how Carducci interprets the Republic of San Marino as a historical model of liberty and coexistence.
