In the context of the attention to the classics that accompanies Carducci’s entire literary activity, from the Antologia latina of 1855 to the investigations of his last years, a privileged place is occupied by his interventions and studies on Virgil, Horace and Tacitus. The contribution intends to retrace the lines of the relationship with the auctores established by Carducci as a poet, polemicist, scholar and professor, who identifies in the Latin world the elements on which to graft the forms of his civil classicism.
